Ho Chi Minh City spreads traffic culture and reading culture in schools

On the morning of September 19, at Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School (Ho Chi Minh City), the Southern Traffic Police Department Youth Union coordinated with the People's Committee of Saigon Ward to organize a propaganda program in response to Traffic Safety Month, combined with an exhibition of paintings, books and mobile book service in 2025.

The program aims to disseminate knowledge and legal regulations on traffic safety to students, teachers and parents, contributing to forming awareness of traffic law compliance right from primary school. In addition, the activity also promotes the reading movement, encourages students to access good and useful books, thereby cultivating personality and forming a healthy lifestyle.

Captain Trinh Trung Hieu, Secretary of the Southern Traffic Police Department's Youth Union, shared: "This is a meaningful activity, helping students access knowledge about traffic laws in a vivid and easy-to-understand way. Through the exhibition of paintings, books and visual propaganda sessions, we hope that students will form safe, civilized and responsible road travel habits."

Not only did the students get to listen to traffic police officers share about traffic skills, they also directly observed paintings and read books at the exhibition booth. Tran Minh Phuc, a student in grade 3/8, excitedly said: “Through the program, I have understood basic traffic laws such as not entering a pedestrian sign when I see it, stopping when the light is red, and only going when the light is green.”

Hoang Khanh Linh, class 3/8, said: "Before, I often forgot to wear a helmet when going to school, but from now on, I will always remember to wear a helmet to protect myself."

The school representative, Ms. Do Ngoc Chi, Principal of Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School, said: “The program not only helps students raise their awareness of obeying traffic laws, but also inspires their love of reading. They will become “little propagandists”, bringing traffic safety messages to their families and communities.”

After visiting the exhibition, Nguyen Nam Viet, a student of class 5/8, shared: “I like the painting about traffic safety the most because it reminds people to obey the law to avoid accidents. I will invite my friends to come see the paintings more often.”
