Ho Chi Minh City proactively responds to storm Kalmaegi near the East Sea

Accordingly, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests departments, branches, units and localities to closely monitor warning bulletins and forecasts of the development of storm Kalmaegi through the bulletin of the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the website of the National Hydrometeorological Forecasting Center and the website of the City Civil Defense Command. Prepare prevention and response plans when storm Kalmaegi affects the city, especially storms, landslides, and flooding due to heavy rain combined with high tides in early November 2025. At the same time, organize a serious 24/24 duty to respond to incidents, natural disasters and catastrophes, to grasp the situation and anticipate the worst possible situations in order to respond promptly and effectively.

For coastal wards, communes, island communes, Con Dao special zone, the City Border Guard Command, the City Coastal Information Station, the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Control, and the Department of Agriculture and Environment request that these units closely monitor all developments of storm Kalmaegi and regularly notify vehicle owners of the storm's developments.

The Department of Construction, the City Center for Management and Exploitation of Irrigation Works and related units closely coordinate with the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones to effectively operate reservoirs, sluice gates, drainage culverts, and mobile water pumps to promptly mobilize and overcome flooding incidents caused by heavy rain from the impact of storm Kalmaegi combined with high tides and flood discharge from Dau Tieng Lake, causing an unfavorable combination.

In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requested the City Green Tree Park Company Limited to quickly handle incidents of fallen trees caused by storm Kalmaegi.

The Department of Tourism informs units with tourist boats not to operate on rivers and seas in dangerous weather conditions, big waves, strong winds and to strictly check safety measures for tourists on board before departure.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment notes that between November 5 and 6, the central East Sea area (including Truong Sa special zone) and the sea off the coast of Da Nang - Khanh Hoa are likely to be affected by strong winds of level 12 - 14, gusting to level 17, and waves of 8.0 - 10.0m high. All ships and structures operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are strongly affected by storms, whirlwinds, strong winds, and large waves.
