At the age of 25, while many young people are still looking for a stable career path, Tran Ho Duy Bao has chosen to start from the most familiar things. That is from trees, land and diligence. The model of growing rosemary and spices such as thyme and oregano that Bao is implementing is part of the program to support young people to start a business and establish a career in the direction of innovation and creativity implemented by the local Youth Union.

On his 3 sao (approximately 3,000 square meters) plot of land, Bao began planting rosemary, a fragrant plant with many uses; he also cultivated two other popular spice plants: thyme and oregano. These are all plants with high practical value in cooking and healthcare. Starting with preparing the soil, selecting seeds, and experimenting with care methods suitable for the local climate, Bao gradually developed a stable planting process. The rows of evenly green plants, with their compact canopies and subtle fragrance, are the result of a long process of self-learning and gaining experience with each season. Bao said: “Initially, I only planted a few rows as a trial because I didn't know if the soil was suitable. After the plants developed steadily, I considered expanding and investing more in care. With encouragement and guidance from the Ward Youth Union, I boldly pursued this long-term.”

Beyond just growing the plants, Bao also focuses on harvesting, neatly bundling them, preserving their aroma and freshness, to supply households who need herbs for cooking or display. Currently, sales mainly rely on regular customers in the ward, a few small traders, and direct orders. On average, the model generates an income of about 10 million VND per month, enough to cover production costs, reinvestment, and personal living expenses.

Notably, Bao's model also created jobs for two other local youth union members. The simple but regular work, such as caring for plants, weeding, pruning, and packaging, helped them earn extra income and learn practical, efficient farming techniques. This is also one of the important goals that the ward's Youth Union aims for when implementing local youth entrepreneurship support models: suitability, feasibility, and widespread impact.

Bao said: “I think that working alone only allows the business model to remain at a basic level. But when you have colleagues to work with, share tasks, and learn together, the model can expand. Thanks to that, the work spirit is more enjoyable and motivating. I think starting a business doesn't have to be big; just doing something small and solid is enough to get started.”

Currently, the Ward Youth Union is introducing Bao's model to other members in the area for learning and reference. Some have visited the garden to see it firsthand, exchange experiences in plant care, and learn about market outlets. According to the Ward Youth Union's assessment, this is one of the exemplary models that suits the practical conditions of local youth. Although not large-scale, the model has a clear direction, strong connections, and especially high potential for replication. Most importantly, the model does not depend too much on external factors, making it very suitable for young people who want to start a business in their hometown.
