Awarding the First Class Labor Medal to Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang

On August 30, at the Government Guest House, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received the Lao Ambassador to Vietnam, Sengphet Houngboungnuang, on the occasion of the Ambassador's upcoming term ending.

On this occasion, authorized by President Vo Van Thuong, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son presented the First Class Labor Order to the Lao Ambassador to Vietnam, Sengphet Houngboungnuang, for his effective and positive contributions to Vietnam-Lao relations during his nearly four-year term in Vietnam.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son congratulated Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang on successfully completing his term of service in Vietnam; and highly appreciated the Ambassador's contributions to maintaining and promoting the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in all fields.

Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that over the past four years, Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang has actively and proactively coordinated with relevant agencies of both countries to effectively serve high-level delegation exchanges and cooperation mechanisms, especially the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year 2022, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries.

The ambassador also strives to contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of defense and security, economy , trade and investment, education and training, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the First Class Labor Order is a well-deserved recognition from the Vietnamese Party and State for Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang.

Lao Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang expressed his deep gratitude to President Vo Van Thuong for bestowing the prestigious First-Class Labor Order, stating that this is a great honor not only for the Ambassador personally but also a result of the joint efforts of ministries, departments, and localities of both countries.

On this occasion, the Ambassador warmly congratulated Minister Bui Thanh Son on the 78th National Day of Vietnam; emphasizing that Vietnam's great socio-economic development achievements are a source of encouragement and inspiration for Laos's cause of national construction and defense.

The Ambassador also thanked and appreciated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant ministries, departments, and localities of Vietnam for their continuous support and active assistance to the Ambassador and the Lao Embassy over the past period.

The ambassador affirmed that upon returning to his country, he would continue to strive to contribute to and nurture the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
