On the morning of May 19th, the Ministry of Construction held an online conference to implement the Project on Investing in the Construction of at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners and industrial zone workers in the period 2021-2030. Attending the conference at the Thai Binh branch were Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of several departments, agencies, and localities.

Immediately after the Prime Minister approved the Project to Invest in the Construction of at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners and industrial zone workers in the period 2021-2030, the Ministry of Construction coordinated with other ministries and agencies to focus on implementing the project's tasks, from proposing regulations on eligible beneficiaries and conditions to preferential credit packages for businesses. To date, 307 social housing projects in urban areas nationwide have been completed, with a construction scale of over 157,000 units and a total area of nearly 8 million ^m² . Of these, 126 projects belong to the social housing development program for industrial zone workers and 181 projects belong to the social housing development program for low-income earners in urban areas.

To successfully achieve the target of approximately 1,062,200 completed apartments in localities by 2030, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi proposed that ministries and agencies continue to coordinate and focus on revising policies and mechanisms regarding social housing. At the same time, the People's Committees of provinces and cities must develop and approve specific implementation plans for investing in social housing projects annually and in stages; plan and allocate social housing projects in suitable locations; and balance local budgets to encourage and attract economic entities to participate in the investment and development of social housing within their respective areas...

At the conference, representatives from relevant ministries and agencies provided guidance and reported on implementation solutions for the 120,000 billion VND support package for social housing loans under Government Resolution 33/NQ-CP; preferential tax policies and medium-term public investment plans for 2021-2025 and 2026-2030 to implement social housing policies; planning, land allocation, and land use fee exemption policies for social housing projects...
