“Vietnamese Tradition” is a song composed by Ai Nhan, based on Chi Anh’s poem. Ai Nhan is another stage name of singer and lecturer Dao Nguyen Vu, who accompanied Duong Minh Quy in this project. In the song, historical sites such as Ai Chi Lang, Bach Dang Giang… and the work “Hich Tuong Si”… are mentioned with pride.

Sharing his feelings when making the MV “Vietnamese Tradition”, singer Duong Minh Quy said: “As a young person growing up in the homeland of Hai Ba Trung and Tran Nguyen Han, I feel very proud of my homeland and country. For a long time, I have always longed for the day when I will make a musical product to pay tribute to the heroes of my homeland and nation and demonstrate the responsibility and mission of today's young generation, while spreading that spirit of pride to my generation. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, I think it is time for me to be mature enough to make an MV with many messages and meanings to join the flow of national pride”.

The special highlight of the MV “Vietnamese Tradition” is an excerpt from “Hich tuong si” – a heroic epic poem by Tran Hung Dao, performed by the strong opera baritone Duong Minh Quy. The audience will see a different interpretation of the immortal proclamation, still powerful, heroic, and very close and emotional.
The song’s arrangement was done by young musician Anh Tu (TULIC), combining epic rock with traditional instruments such as the zither, flute, two-string fiddle, and drum, creating a unique blend of modernity and tradition. “I want to convey the spirit of a young patriot through an arrangement that combines epic rock and traditional instruments,” musician Anh Tu shared.
Regarding the MV’s visuals, director Anh Quan chose the backdrop of famous landmarks and historical sites in Hanoi and Bac Ninh. The audience was impressed with the image of the male singer performing the song in the Do Temple space, where there is a “Thien do chieu” – a Bat Trang ceramic scroll 3.5m high, more than 8m wide, copying the “Chieu doi do” of King Ly Thai To.

Notably, in this debut product, Duong Minh Quy received direct support from teacher - singer, lecturer Dao Nguyen Vu, currently working at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. It was Mr. Vu who trained, inspired and accompanied him from the beginning. Thanks to his guidance, Duong Minh Quy was the valedictorian of the Central University of Art Education and then chose the Vietnam National Academy of Music to develop his vocal skills in depth.
Witnessing his student’s growth, singer Dao Nguyen Vu was moved: “Duong Minh Quy has a beautiful baritone voice. With the MV “Vietnamese Tradition”, I clearly see his efforts to shine. This is Duong Minh Quy’s official start on the path of a solo singer.”
Before releasing the MV, Duong Minh Quy affirmed his talent at the 2023 Asia- Pacific Arts Festival in Indonesia when he won the Gold Award with Mozart's famous arias. After more than a year of focusing on completing his graduation, he confidently entered the path of an independent singer.
Currently, in addition to performing, Duong Minh Quy also teaches vocal and instrumental music to students at home and abroad, including the Vietnamese community in Australia, Korea, the US, etc.
He said he will continue to pursue a musical style that combines traditional and contemporary, aiming to conquer audiences of all ages with meticulousness and professional foundation.
