Vietnam Film Week - a cultural bridge connecting the Vietnamese and Lao peoples

On the afternoon of December 6, at the Lao National Palace of Culture in Vientiane, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Lao Ministry of Culture and Tourism to organize the closing ceremony of the Vietnamese Film Week to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2025).

Attending the event were Lao Minister of Culture and Tourism Suansavanh Viyaket; representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos; representatives of the Vietnam Cultural Center in Laos; representatives of relevant agencies of Vietnam and Laos, along with a large number of Lao people and the Vietnamese community in Laos.

In his closing speech, Mr. Do Quoc Viet - Deputy Director of the Department of Cinema, representative of the delegation organizing the Vietnam Film Week in Laos - emphasized that in the context of 2025 with many important milestones for both countries, the Film Week celebrating Laos National Day has become a meaningful cultural bridge.

Through the feature films and documentaries shown, the Organizing Committee hopes to send to the Lao people authentic and vivid images of the country and people of Vietnam, of the strong changes in the integration period and above all, the spirit of solidarity and humanity - values ​​that the two peoples always sympathize with and cherish.

According to Mr. Do Quoc Viet, during the six days of the event, the Film Week introduced to the Lao and Vietnamese public a number of typical works, including three newly premiered works of Vietnamese cinema.

These films are sincere congratulations from Vietnamese cinema to the Lao people on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of National Day; at the same time, they are a bridge to help the public of the two countries better understand, love and appreciate the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

The Organizing Committee said that the works screened in this Film Week have contributed to strengthening the Vietnam-Laos friendship, helping the people of the two countries become closer, understand and love each other more, and together preserve the special emotional heritage that history has bestowed.
