Coastal Road 129 (Phase 1), renamed Vo Chi Cong Road, is 36.5km long, stretching from Cua Dai Bridge (Duy Xuyen District) to the intersection with National Highway 40B (Tam Ky City), with a planned width of 38m.

Construction began in 2009, but due to a lack of funding, only two lanes were built, and the road was put into use in 2016. Continuing the project, the remaining sections were completed in accordance with the plan at the end of 2021.
The project, also known as the access road to Cua Dai Nam Bridge in Hoi An, is part of a project to develop the environment and urban infrastructure to respond to climate change.
The project spans three localities: Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh, and Tam Ky City. The road is designed to Class II standards, with a design speed of 70 km/h and a cross-section width of 38 meters. Each side of the road is 10 meters wide, with two lanes for motorized vehicles, one lane for non-motorized vehicles, a 2.5-meter median strip, and 7.5-meter sidewalks on each side.

This route shortens the distance from Da Nang to Tam Ky City by about 10km, reducing traffic pressure on National Highway 1.
The road has also been upgraded with a new lighting system and landscaping with trees planted in the median strip. Sidewalks are lined with trees for shade, and sections passing through urban and tourist areas have additional grass. Nine traffic light clusters have also been installed at intersections.
The project, which commenced in late 2021 and was completed in late 2023, has a total investment of 700 billion VND and is managed by the Quang Nam Provincial Investment and Construction Management Board for Transportation Projects.
The road mainly runs through protected forests, sandy beach areas, and coastal resorts and entertainment areas.

Quang Nam province has planned the Vo Chi Cong road to develop coastal tourism combined with urban and industrial areas, and it also serves as an eastern road axis connecting and expanding development space with Da Nang and Quang Ngai cities.
Along with the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway and National Highway 1, this route is a vital transportation artery connecting the regions, creating momentum for economic development in the central coastal area and eastern Quang Nam province.
The route also plays a crucial role in guiding the development of tourism, services, and industry.
Many locals, while traveling on the road, marveled at its beauty, its wideness, its complete system of traffic lights, signs, streetlights, and greenery, and the smooth flow of traffic. They likened it to the "coastal highway" of Quang Nam.
In January 2024, the management board continued the groundbreaking ceremony for component project 1, completing coastal road 129 (also known as coastal road 129 project phase 2). The project starts at the intersection with National Highway 40B (Tam Ky City) and ends at the intersection with Provincial Road 620 (Nui Thanh District), spanning approximately 26km with a design speed of 70km/h and a roadbed width of 38m. In addition, there are 6 bridges, a drainage system, lighting, and landscaping, with a total cost of 1,076 billion VND.
