With high determination, both the Vietnam U16 and Thailand U16 teams proactively played attacking football after the opening whistle. In the 7th minute, a relatively difficult header from a Thailand U16 player was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Thang Long.
After a fairly balanced first 10 minutes, the U16 Thailand players began to put continuous pressure on the U16 Vietnam half of the field. The team from the Land of Smiles had a slight advantage in terms of ball possession and the danger posed by their attacking moves.

For half of the first half, Coach Tran Minh Chien's players struggled to withstand the strong attacks from the U16 Thailand team.
In the 36th minute, Tan Dung took a corner kick, the ball curling towards the far corner, causing the U16 Thailand goalkeeper to fumble and almost put the ball into his own net. A few minutes later, U16 Vietnam organized a quick throw-in, creating a good scoring opportunity, but unfortunately, the shot from the red-shirted player hit a Thai defender. The first half ended with a 0-0 score.
In the second half, the Vietnam U16 team had a better game. In the 52nd minute, the South Korean referee temporarily stopped the match to review the VAR screen, then decided to award Vietnam U16 a penalty after determining that Hong Quang had been fouled by a Thai player inside the penalty area.

From the penalty spot, Hong Phong didn't miss the opportunity to open the scoring for his team with a shot straight into the center of the U16 Thailand goal.
A minute later, the U16 Thailand team had a golden opportunity to equalize, but the angled shot from inside the 5.5-meter box by the player in the blue shirt went wide of Thang Long's goal.
In the 60th minute, U16 Thailand equalized 1-1. The ball was put into the net of U16 Vietnam from a header by Phothong. VAR intervened and the goal was awarded to U16 Thailand as there was no foul by the Thai defender against the Vietnamese player.
In the 76th minute, the referee again stopped the game to consult with the VAR team after Hong Phong fell inside the U16 Thailand penalty area. However, no second penalty was awarded to Coach Tran Minh Chien's team.
