(CLO) Russian air defenses repelled an attack of 10 Ukrainian missiles on the Rostov region in southern Russia, according to local governor Yuri Slyusar on Wednesday.
Slyusar said air defense units shot down 10 missiles during the attack. Debris from one missile caused a fire at a house in the village of Malenkaya Kamenka and shattered windows in other houses. He said there were no casualties and emergency services were on the scene.
Slyusar later reported that Russian air defenses repelled an attack by seven Ukrainian drones around midnight. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties or damage.

Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine's Center for Combating Disinformation, confirmed on Telegram that the attack focused on the Kamensky chemical plant "which produces rocket fuel specializing in solid fuel components for rocket engines."
He said the plant also produces explosives and components for ammunition. Unofficial Russian and Ukrainian blogs suggest the attack may have involved missiles supplied by the West.
In the Zaporizhzhia region of southern Ukraine, partly controlled by Russian forces, Russian-appointed Governor Yevgeny Balitsky said air defense units shot down four Ukrainian missiles. He said initial analysis indicated that Storm Shadow missiles supplied by the United Kingdom were used.
The Ukrainian missile launch targeting Russian weapons facilities followed the assassination of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Russian army's radiation, chemical, and biological protection unit, in Moscow by a man recruited by Ukraine.
This also comes as Ukraine continues to lose ground on the front lines, particularly in the eastern part of the country. In its latest announcement on Wednesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian troops had taken control of two more communities in Donetsk.
"Units of the Southern Combat Group have liberated the Trudovoye settlement in the Donetsk People's Republic... Units of the Central Combat Group have also liberated the Stariye Terny settlement," the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
