Organized by Asia's leading financial magazine, the Asian Banking and Finance (ABF) Awards honor financial institutions and banks that have made a significant impact on the industry with their solutions and products, delivering positive results for customers.
Meeting all those criteria, at the ABF 2024 awards ceremony, UOB Vietnam surpassed many nominees to win two important awards: “International Retail Bank of the Year” and “Innovative Service of the Year”. This is positive recognition from financial experts and the community for a long journey of serving customers and contributing to sustainable socio -economic development – a mission that UOB has pursued since its early days in the Vietnamese market.

Break through market share and enhance customer experience.
In 2023, UOB completed the acquisition of Citigroup's retail division - a turning point that helped the bank significantly expand its scale of operations and market share in Vietnam. UOB gradually became a comprehensive retail bank, meeting the needs of all customer segments with a diverse portfolio of products and services, including: credit cards, consumer loans, mortgages, opening payment accounts, savings deposits, insurance and investments...
Beyond simply providing financial solutions, UOB also satisfies customers by enhancing personalized customer service and continuously improving product features, with the GetBanker app being a prime example.
Over the past year, UOB has upgraded its GetBanker app to simplify the process, reducing application time from 24 hours to just one minute and adding new features such as application progress tracking and interactive games with reward points. This allows UOB's partner brokers to quickly refer individual customers in need of mortgage loans to the bank.
Based on data collected through analyzing customers' evolving needs and preferences, the bank also designs privileges and benefits tailored to their lifestyles, particularly in the areas of entertainment and cross-country travel .
Specifically, UOB has become the exclusive ticketing partner for many large-scale international entertainment events in ASEAN. This allows UOB credit/debit cardholders to easily secure early access to tickets for performances by international stars such as Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran in 2023. In addition, customers will also receive customized benefits within the UOB Travel package, including a carefully selected list of hotels conveniently located near the concert venues.
The number of "early bird" tickets sold out in a record short time, leading to a significant increase in new cardholders and a substantial rise in UOB credit/debit card usage. This demonstrates the appeal of attractive privileges and affirms UOB's vision in exploring potential areas.
Sustainable and innovative business practices for social progress.
Alongside its economic goals, UOB actively participates in corporate social responsibility initiatives, demonstrating its commitment to doing the right thing for the local community. UOB's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs focus on education , children, arts, and the environment, with notable initiatives such as the annual fundraising run "UOB Heartbeat Run," the annual "UOB Painting of the Year" art competition which helps discover and nurture artistic talent and promote Vietnamese art, reforestation campaigns, and more recently, the "Green Action, Green Future" campaign – encouraging customers to contribute to the environment through loans and transactions with the bank.

Having come a long way with many milestones, UOB continues its journey to become a leading foreign bank in Vietnam. Regarding future direction, Mr. Paul Kim - Director of Personal Finance Services at UOB Vietnam - affirmed that the bank will continue to partner with many international entertainment events and offer exclusive promotions to attract more new customers, while also boosting spending in areas such as entertainment, travel, shopping, and dining…

“We are planning to establish global partnerships in the entertainment sector every year. Within the next six months, UOB will not only limit its advance ticketing privileges to concerts by US-UK artists, but also to C-pop and K-pop artists such as Andy Lau, Stray Kids, and Zerobaseone,” a UOB representative shared.
