In this context, experts recommend that investors develop smart risk mitigation strategies, especially adhering to the principle of "not putting all your eggs in one basket".
According to Mr. Dinh Quang Hinh, Head of Macroeconomics & Market Strategy Department, Analysis Division of VNDirect Securities Company, a rational allocation of investment portfolios across channels such as stocks, real estate, bank deposits, and a portion in precious metals will help preserve capital while creating sustainable profit potential in the long term.
Mr. Hinh stated that securities companies could enter a new revaluation cycle as they expand into digital investments, crypto assets, and robo-advisory services – areas with long-term growth potential.
"Overall, the Vietnamese stock market is still accelerating, but not 'every compartment is full of passengers.' Some large-cap stocks are surging, pushing the index up and creating a sense of 'expensive' in terms of points. However, in many sectors, valuations remain moderate, even attractive for long-term investors, while young, short-term investors should not buy at this time."
"We need to analyze each industry and each business because at historical peaks, every wrong decision is more likely to have costly consequences than usual. At this time, young investors and new investors should not participate in the stock market. If they have money, they should diversify their investment channels such as gold, stocks, and bank deposits to limit risks," Mr. Hinh said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ngo Thanh Huan, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of FIDT Investment Consulting and Asset Management Joint Stock Company, said that at this time, careful consideration is needed when choosing investment channels, as stocks, gold, and real estate have all experienced rapid price increases recently.
According to Mr. Huan, the Vietnamese stock market is a highly volatile investment channel because the majority of clients are in international markets, where they have experience, knowledge, and technical skills, so they know how to invest. Meanwhile, Vietnamese investors are often impulsive, lack technical skills and knowledge, are heavily influenced by emotions, and easily fall into the trap of "buying at the peak and selling at the bottom."
"Therefore, stocks are not a good and optimal investment channel for Vietnamese people, even though many investors have been successful recently when the market was very positive," Mr. Huan said.
From the above analysis, he believes that in the long term, real estate will have real demand; buy apartments because many housing projects and apartments appear with acceptable prices and buy land in areas where people already live; do not invest in land in forests, mountains, or abandoned project land.
“Investors with over 1 billion VND should borrow more to invest in an apartment or a plot of land in an area with existing residents, rather than buying in remote areas at prices ranging from over 1 billion to over 2 billion VND. For example, in the North, there are Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh; in the South, there are Long An , Dong Nai, and the former Binh Thuan (now Lam Dong). Buying land and holding it for 5 years will inevitably lead to price increases,” Mr. Huan said.
Analyzing the current investment opportunities in gold, expert Tran Duy Phuong stated that, given the volatile prices of gold, stocks, and real estate, investors should develop a smart risk mitigation strategy, particularly adhering to the principle of "not putting all your eggs in one basket."
According to Mr. Phuong, a reasonable portfolio allocation among channels such as stocks, real estate, bank deposits and a part in precious metals will help preserve capital, while creating room for sustainable profits in the long term.

"With gold, investors should only buy when the price goes down, not when it goes up, to avoid chasing the market, which carries significant risks. It's not advisable to buy at this time; instead, wait for strong corrections to buy, as that would be safer. For those selling to take profits, this is also an opportunity to sell off a portion of their portfolio and wait for a price drop to buy back at a lower price," Mr. Phuong said.
Dr. Nguyen Tri Hieu, an economic expert, commented that gold prices are currently fluctuating as many investors take profits; however, in the medium and long term, gold prices will continue to rise. The reasons are the unresolved global trade war, complex geopolitical risks in many regions, and the continued uncertainty of the global economy.
The domestic gold bar price has increased by more than 47% compared to the beginning of the year. According to the forecast of Dr. Nguyen Tri Hieu, SJC gold bars will soon conquer a new record of 125 million VND/tael, and may even reach 130 million VND/tael in the near future.
“Among investment channels such as gold, stocks, real estate, shares, savings, bonds, and soon, cryptocurrencies, gold remains the most vibrant investment channel in Vietnam. The Vietnamese people's preference for gold has a long history, and it remains an irreplaceable investment channel,” commented Dr. Nguyen Tri Hieu.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, CEO of the Faculty of Finance and Banking, Nguyen Trai University, analyzed that the recent sharp increase in stocks has caused a large amount of speculative capital to shift from gold to stocks, and the "fomo" (fear of missing out) psychology in gold has decreased significantly compared to the time when gold prices were high in the first half of the year.
"Currently, gold is projected to fluctuate within a narrow range in the second half of the year, and prices are at a high level. Therefore, investors should reduce their gold holdings, specifically by holding only about 10% of their total investment portfolio, to mitigate risk," Mr. Huy said.
On the morning of August 16, the price of gold bars at Doji and SJC was listed at 123.5-124.5 million VND/tael (buy-sell), unchanged for buying and down 200,000 VND/tael for selling. The price of gold rings is currently listed by Doji at 116.5-119.5 million VND/tael (buy-sell), down 300,000 VND/tael for both buying and selling.
Closing yesterday's trading session, August 15, VN-Index decreased 10.69 points (0.65%) to 1,630 points, HNX-Index decreased 2.81 points (0.99%) to 282.34 points, UPCoM-Index decreased 0.34 points (0.31%) to 109.61 points.
Market liquidity was pushed up, total transaction value reached 65,567 billion VND, equivalent to nearly 2.4 billion shares.
On HoSE, liquidity increased by 12% compared to the previous session, reaching over VND59,060 billion. The banking group no longer played a supporting role but became the main drag, taking away more than 2.3 points from the VN-Index.
Two bank stocks MBB and VPB closed with only a slight increase, with VPB +1% to 31,100 VND, matching 64.8 million units and MBB +2.4% to 28,250 VND, but recording a record matching session with more than 117.4 million units.
