Flight tickets for April 30: Many flights are fully booked

According to the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, as of April 19th, statistics on bookings by Vietnamese airlines on domestic routes during the April 30th - May 1st holiday period show that the "skewed" nature of air travel during peak periods and holidays has become clearly evident.

Booking rates for flights departing from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are currently high.

Specifically, flights from the two central cities at opposite ends of the country, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, to other localities have high booking rates at the beginning of the holiday period. A similar situation will occur on routes from other localities to Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City at the end of the holiday period.

Accordingly, on the first official holiday (April 27th), the booking rate on flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to other localities mostly reached over 75%.

Notably, some routes have achieved booking rates of over 90% to 100%, such as: Hanoi - Hue, Hanoi - Quy Nhon, Hanoi - Quang Binh, Hanoi - Nha Trang , Hanoi - Tuy Hoa, Hanoi - Dien Bien, Ho Chi Minh City - Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City - Tuy Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City - Dien Bien…

On flights from other provinces to Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City, the booking rate during the early part of the holiday period is at an average level, fluctuating around 50%. Some routes have higher rates, such as Hai Phong - Ho Chi Minh City, Dien Bien - Ho Chi Minh City, Dien Bien - Hanoi, Da Lat - Hanoi…

On April 26th and 28th, the day before and after the first holiday, although the trend wasn't as clear as on April 27th, the booking rates also showed a similar pattern.

With April 29th being the middle of the holiday period, booking rates haven't shown any significant increase or fluctuation on domestic routes, currently mostly fluctuating between 30% and 50%. Passengers still have many suitable flight options on this day.

Towards the end of the holiday period, especially on the final day of the holiday (May 1st), booking rates showed a significant increase on local flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, averaging over 75%.

In fact, some routes have achieved booking rates close to 100%, such as Hue - Hanoi, Phu Quoc - Hanoi, Dien Bien - Hanoi, Dong Hoi - Hanoi, Nha Trang - Hanoi, Pleiku - Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc - Ho Chi Minh City, Tuy Hoa - Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City, Quy Nhon - Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City...

During this period, flights from Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City to other localities have cooled down compared to before, and booking rates are at a moderate level, averaging below 50%.

Notably, statistics show that booking rates on domestic flights connecting to Dien Bien Phu are consistently high as the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 – May 7, 2024) approaches.

The Hanoi - Dien Bien and Ho Chi Minh City - Dien Bien routes are among the routes with high booking rates throughout the April 30th - May 1st holiday period, and are expected to continue to maintain this level in the following days.

Currently, among Vietnamese airlines, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air are operating flights connecting Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City with Dien Bien, providing locals and tourists with more travel options to explore the history, sightsee, and travel in Dien Bien during this important national holiday, as well as in response to Vietnam's National Tourism Year 2024.
