On December 3, the leader of a lottery company in the West said that the Ministry of Finance had just sent an official dispatch to the Southern Lottery Council regarding increasing the sales of 4 spring issues in Binh Ngo year 2026.
The Ministry of Finance allows lottery companies in the Southern region to issue an additional VND 20 billion/company/issuance period (equivalent to an increase of 2 million tickets/company/issuance period) in 4 issuance periods on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Horse in 2026, as proposed by the Southern Lottery Council.
Thus, during Tet, each lottery company will issue 16 million tickets (equivalent to 160 billion VND), instead of 14 million tickets/issue as at present.
Southern lottery tickets will increase 1 period before Tet and 3 periods after Tet Binh Ngo, starting from February 10 to March 9, 2026 (December 23 to January 21).
The Ministry of Finance assigned the Standing Committee of the Southern Lottery Council to monitor and direct member lottery companies to organize issuance in accordance with regulations.
According to the Southern Lottery Council, the increase in the issuance of spring lottery tickets creates conditions to serve the increased demand for entertainment during Tet. Thereby, lottery companies have the conditions to increase sales revenue right from the beginning of the year, helping to complete the yearly business plan more smoothly.
In the first 9 months of 2025, the traditional lottery sales in the Southern region reached 117,370 billion VND, an increase of 11.47% over the same period. Revenue reached 115,727 billion VND, an increase of more than 11% and reaching nearly 77% of the 2025 plan. The average lottery ticket consumption rate in the region is nearly 99%.
Pre-tax profit reached VND 15,125 billion, an increase of more than 12% and reaching nearly 85% of the 2025 plan. Thereby, lottery companies in the Southern region paid the budget VND 39,936 billion, an increase of nearly 13% over the same period and reaching more than 84% of the 2025 plan.
