Vera Wang sells her eponymous brand after 35 years in business

The Vera Wang brand has been independently owned since its founding in 1990, with designer Vera Wang as sole owner and reporting annual sales of more than $700 million.

The WHP Global management team has acquired the brand's IP and announced it to the media. As part of the deal, designer Vera Wang will remain as founder and creative director of the brand and join WHP as a shareholder. The group also owns fashion brands including Rag & Bone, G-Star, Isaac Mizrahi, Anne Klein, Bonobos and Joe's Jeans, children's retailer Toys R Us and, as of June, shopping mall brand Express. The remaining terms of the Vera Wang deal were not disclosed.

Vera Wang, full name Vera Ellen Wang, is a famous wedding dress designer since the early 1990s.

Starting as a single bridal boutique in The Carlyle Hotel, Vera Wang has grown into a full-fledged lifestyle brand. Her designs are the dream of millions of brides around the world . Not only famous for her fashion talent, Vera Wang has recently made people admire her youthful appearance and toned, fit body at the age of 71. Designer Wang introduced ready-to-wear in 2000, and launched home goods, jewelry, fragrance and shoe categories; and collaborated with Kohl's and David's Bridal on popular product lines. Her wedding dress designs are the dream of brides and a favorite brand of celebrities. She has designed wedding dresses for many famous clients, including Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Uma Thurman and Vanessa Hudgens.

Bride Son Ye Jin also chose a wedding dress by designer Vera Wang on her big day.
