The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has issued a document regarding the relocation of 11 fixed passenger transport routes to Binh Duong province from the Eastern Bus Station (Binh Thanh District) to the new Eastern Bus Station (Thu Duc City).
Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has requested the Binh Duong Provincial Department of Transport to support and coordinate in notifying and publicizing the relocation of fixed passenger transport routes running between Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong and vice versa from the old Eastern Bus Station to the new Eastern Bus Station.
The two sides have met and agreed to relocate 11 bus routes with 426 vehicles starting from August 1st.

According to representatives of the new Eastern Bus Station, after relocating 11 more routes from the old station, the total number of routes currently operating in the new station is 229.
The relocation of 11 interprovincial fixed routes from the old terminal to the new terminal (Ho Chi Minh City - Binh Duong) is due to the fact that these passenger buses, registered to operate in Binh Duong, do not enter the terminal but instead travel directly from Binh Duong to other provinces to pick up and drop off passengers, or set up illegal bus stops and terminals that violate regulations, creating unfair competition among businesses.
Therefore, relocating 11 routes (Ho Chi Minh City - Binh Duong) to the new terminal is necessary to stabilize routes and improve management.
The new Eastern Bus Station, inaugurated in October 2020, has a total investment of over 4,000 billion VND. Phase 1 of the bus station, with an investment of approximately 740 billion VND, has completed the central terminal building with 4 above-ground floors and 2 underground floors.
After its inauguration, the bus station operated inefficiently, with few passengers, averaging only about 10 buses entering and leaving the station each day. To increase passenger volume, the bus station and relevant authorities have implemented various solutions to develop public transportation and improve infrastructure. As a result, passenger volume has increased significantly.
Specifically, in the first six months of 2024, the number of passengers exceeded 1 million, corresponding to approximately 102,000 trips, representing a 122% increase in passenger volume and a 55% increase in trips compared to the same period in 2023.
