On the evening of September 23, local time, in Sao Paulo city, Brazil, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Brazil and several South American countries, during his official visit to Brazil.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and key leaders of the Party and State, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his sincere greetings, warm regards and best wishes to the Vietnamese people in Brazil and South American countries.
The Prime Minister said that the official visit to Brazil by the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation this time aims to create an important driving force to promote the relationship between Vietnam and Brazil to develop more deeply and effectively, towards the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Brazil (in 2024), as well as to elevate the relationship between the two countries to a new height.
Along with that, the Prime Minister said that he will have official talks with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva; through that, the two sides will inform each other about the situation in each country, agree on specific directions and measures to continue strengthening bilateral relations as well as discuss international and regional issues of mutual concern.
The Prime Minister also shared with the people the main features of the country's image with important and commendable achievements in recent times, major orientations in socio-economic development, national defense, security, culture, etc.
Reviewing the milestones and major achievements in the Vietnam-Brazil relationship, in which the trade turnover in 2022 reached a record of about 6.78 billion USD (up 6.6% compared to 2021, 3 times higher than in the past decade), the Prime Minister stated: The results of cooperation in general in all fields and in the economic - trade and investment fields in particular between the two countries in the past time are encouraging, but not commensurate with the potential and opportunities between the two countries, there is still a lot of room for development. The two economies of Vietnam and Brazil have many fields and products that are highly complementary such as: energy, aviation, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, biology, mining, etc.
The Prime Minister said that he has directed and the relevant agencies are promoting negotiations on free trade agreements with Latin American countries, including Brazil; in discussions with Brazilian leaders during the visit, the Prime Minister will continue to mention this content.
In particular, it is necessary to continue promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges and educational cooperation. This is an important foundation to bridge the gap between the two countries and peoples.
Regarding the wishes and proposals of the people, the Prime Minister shared and acknowledged the opinions and will request relevant ministries, branches and agencies to focus on reviewing, researching and soon having appropriate solutions in a timely and thorough spirit.
Through the Ambassador's report and the opinions of the people, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese community in Brazil in stabilizing their lives, integrating well into the host society, focusing on business and development to make positive contributions to the host society as well as the friendly relationship between the two countries.
The Prime Minister was very pleased with the efforts of the people in recent times to unite, promote the tradition of "mutual love", help each other to stabilize life in the spirit of the first person helping the next person, the young helping the old, the better-off helping the less fortunate; at the same time, with the spirit of "drinking water, remember its source", always looking towards the origin and homeland.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the Party and State always pay attention to the overseas Vietnamese community in general and our compatriots in Brazil in particular, "as an inseparable part and a resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community". The achievements in the country's development today all have important contributions from the Vietnamese community in Brazil. The Prime Minister also said that he would ask Brazil to continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live and do business stably and legally in Brazil.
The Vietnamese community in Brazil was formed in the 1970s and currently has about 150 people.
In the coming time, with the attention and support of the Party and State, the Prime Minister suggested that people continue to promote the spirit of mutual love, continue to enhance the spirit of solidarity, help each other overcome difficulties and introduce and create conditions for relatives and acquaintances to work and live in Brazil.
Along with that, uphold national pride, strive to rise up, actively integrate, comply with the law and contribute to local development; always look towards the homeland and country and play a good role as a bridge of friendship between Vietnam and Brazil.
The Prime Minister also asked the Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil to continue to pay attention and do better work for overseas Vietnamese to build a united and developed Vietnamese community in Brazil that always looks towards the homeland and country.
