Displaying more than 200 images and historical documents about Vietnam - Cuba friendship

(CLO) On the morning of December 5, the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Loyalty and Love" about the Vietnam - Cuba friendship took place at the Vietnam Women's Museum.

The event was jointly organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Museum, the Vietnam Women's Museum, the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam, the "Forever 20" Club, and related units. The exhibition introduced more than 200 images, documents, and artifacts that represent the history of the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

At the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, Director of the Vietnam Women's Museum, said that the exhibition "Loyalty and Love" is an event aimed at celebrating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025); Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year; 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam National United Front - Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2025); 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2025) and 36th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2025).

With the desire to recount in a simple but profound way the 65-year journey of affection between the two brotherly nations. "The loyal affection" is not only present in the great diplomatic events recorded in history, but also in the very ordinary stories through photos and souvenirs preserved for decades...

Mr. Rogelio Polanco Fuentes - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba shared: "Today's exhibition is a profound tribute to the historical relationship between the two peoples, a relationship that has been forged over many generations and always preserved as a priceless treasure, becoming a shining example of international solidarity".

The images and documents displayed at today's exhibition were carefully and meticulously selected to recreate typical milestones in the process of cultivating the brotherly relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.

The exhibition is displayed in 4 parts, introducing stories and activities of Party and State leaders, organizations, unions and people between Vietnam and Cuba.

The opening section “Under One Flag” summarizes the similarities between the two countries at opposite ends of the world, Vietnam and Cuba, and the unforgettable historical milestone when Vietnam and Cuba established diplomatic relations in 1960.

The second part of the exhibition, themed “Two Hearts…”, features typical images and stories reflecting the special, comprehensive relationship between Vietnam and Cuba during the most difficult times of the two countries. Cuba stood side by side with Vietnam, especially during the resistance war against the US, and Vietnam’s mutual support activities towards Cuba to overcome the period of US embargo in the late 90s of the 20th century.

The exhibition also emphasizes the role of female general Nguyen Thi Dinh - a special woman who contributed to the strong friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

The third part, “Sharing the Beat”, with documents and images, shows the solidarity of the two Parties and peoples, and the comprehensive cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Cuba that is constantly being strengthened, promoted and developed in all fields.

The final part “Cultivating Friendship” shows the flow of affection and the continuation of tradition through images and video clips about the activities of the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association; activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two levels of State and organization; activities to meet, exchange and learn from each other of the young generations of the two countries.

In particular, at this exhibition, there are many typical artifacts introduced to the public for the first time, such as: The banner "A Melba with Fidel always doing revolution with Uncle Ho forever loyal heart" by Ms. Melba Hernández Rodríguez, former Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam, presented on the occasion of her 75th birthday. Besides that, there are a series of propaganda posters by Cuban artists from the 1970s, reflecting the spirit of solidarity of the Cuban people towards Vietnam in the resistance war against the US.

Within the framework of the event, there was also an exchange and sharing program from people who have been attached to and have many deep memories with the country and people of Cuba such as director Nguyen Ha Tiep - who made the film "Two hearts sharing the same beat"; Mr. Manuel Enrique Montañé Enriquez - Deputy Director of the Factory of the Genfarma Pharmaceutical Joint Venture, nephew of Mrs. Melba Hernández; journalist Huynh Dung Nhan and people who have studied and lived in Cuba.

The event also witnessed the reception of artifacts from the family of Mrs. Melba Hernández, donated by the Cuban Embassy to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Museum. These precious artifacts contribute to deepening the historical value of the exhibition, as a vivid demonstration of the exemplary solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba.

The exhibition is open to the public from December 5 to December 12, 2025 at the Vietnam Women's Museum (36 Ly Thuong Kiet, Cua Nam Ward, Hanoi).
