In Tam Anh commune, according to the commune's People's Committee leaders, there are currently 39 disabled children in the area, including 12 with severe disabilities, 22 with moderate disabilities, and 5 with mild disabilities. The solidarity group regularly reviews and monitors each specific case to provide timely support. All children receive full social welfare benefits as stipulated by the State, such as monthly social allowances and health insurance cards.
For children with severe disabilities, caregivers also receive a monthly allowance, helping to alleviate the financial burden on the family. Besides government policies, other fundamental rights of children with disabilities are also emphasized, such as healthcare, rehabilitation, education, vocational training, legal assistance, and access to appropriate public services.
Every year, the People's Committee of the commune, the Youth Union, along with various associations, social organizations, and businesses, organize recreational activities and give gifts to children during the Mid-Autumn Festival, Children's Day, and Lunar New Year. These activities not only bring joy but also boost morale, helping children feel the care and sharing from the community. Many philanthropists also donate hearing aids, wheelchairs, etc., to make the children's daily lives and studies more convenient and safer.
According to Ms. Le Thi Tam, President of the City's Charity and Child Protection Association, the overarching motto is "leaving no one behind." During the 2025-2026 school year, the association mobilized businesses and philanthropists to contribute over 1.8 billion VND in facilities and gifts for students in disadvantaged areas.
Notably, the association, in coordination with Nhan Dinh Investment, Trading & Services Co., Ltd. and several other businesses, sponsored 1.65 billion VND to build three classrooms for Nong Van Den Primary School, a canteen, and a rest house for teachers at Tuoi Hong Kindergarten (Tra Doc commune). In addition, 97 gifts totaling 158 million VND were also given directly to students with particularly difficult circumstances, including many children with disabilities. These projects and gifts are a great source of encouragement, helping to support the children in attending school and learning in a better environment.
Not only the government and social organizations, but also the health sector is actively involved in supporting children with disabilities. Dr. Nguyen Van Dung, Director of the City Rehabilitation Hospital, said that the Pediatric Rehabilitation Department has implemented many in-depth and effective intervention programs. A multidisciplinary team of experts regularly consults, develops personalized treatment plans for each child, combining rehabilitation, traditional medicine, nutrition, clinical psychology, and treatment of comorbidities.
Beyond its professional activities, the hospital also focuses on organizing meaningful programs such as visiting and giving gifts on International Children's Day (June 1st), or a swimming competition for child patients undergoing treatment. This is an opportunity for the children to both improve their health and learn water safety skills. In addition, many children from disadvantaged backgrounds have also received support such as wheelchairs and orthopedic walking shoes, helping them to be more confident on their journey to reintegrate into the community.
In the coming period, the City Rehabilitation Hospital will continue to expand its programs to support children with disabilities and their families. The goal is to build a comprehensive, humane, and effective care environment so that all children with disabilities have more opportunities to learn, play, and confidently integrate into society.
