Specifically, a representative from Vietnam Airlines stated that approximately 5 minutes after takeoff, passenger TTPD (25 years old, Vietnamese nationality), seated in seat 11B, suddenly showed signs of ill health. The flight crew immediately made an announcement over the loudspeaker requesting assistance from doctors and volunteer medical personnel on board. Simultaneously, flight attendants provided first aid and an oxygen tank to the passenger.
However, the passenger's health condition did not improve. The captain quickly contacted Vietnam Airlines' operations center and simultaneously notified ground staff at Phu Bai Airport (Hue) to prepare emergency medical equipment and personnel. Shortly afterward, the flight was diverted to land at Phu Bai Airport to ensure the passenger received timely medical assistance.
After landing, passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment, accompanied by family members and representatives from Vietnam Airlines. Flight VN158 completed the necessary procedures and continued its journey to Hanoi at 9:10 AM the same day, approximately one hour later than scheduled.
Vietnam Airlines makes emergency landing to save passenger.
According to the airline's representative, although the itinerary adjustments incur additional costs related to fuel, ground services, and flight schedule coordination, Vietnam Airlines affirms that the safety and health of passengers are always the top priority in all situations.
Previously, Vietnam Airlines has repeatedly and flexibly altered itineraries to assist passengers requiring medical attention. Most recently, on May 5th, flight VN35 from Hanoi to Frankfurt (Germany) made an emergency landing at Erzurum Airport (Turkey) to provide medical assistance to a passenger. In January, flight VN1602 from Buon Ma Thuot to Hanoi was also diverted to land at Da Nang Airport for the same reason.
