Food poisoning after death anniversary meal in Hue: Restaurant required to temporarily suspend operations

Hue Central Hospital, branch 2, has recorded 21 cases of hospitalization due to food poisoning after attending a death anniversary in Phong Dinh ward, Hue city.

On July 21, Mr. Tran Kiem Hao, Director of the Hue City Department of Health , said that the patients admitted to the emergency room due to food poisoning after attending a memorial feast in Phong Dinh ward (Hue City) on July 18 were basically in stable condition.

By the morning of July 21st, Hue Central Hospital, Branch 2, had recorded 21 cases of food poisoning after attending the aforementioned memorial feast.

Representatives from the Hue City Department of Health are gathering information from patients.

According to Mr. Hao, the department has sent stool samples from the patients to the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang for testing to determine the cause of the food poisoning. At the same time, they have requested the restaurant that prepared the food for the memorial service to temporarily cease operations pending the conclusion of the investigation.

Authorities are investigating and verifying the cause of the poisoning.

The Department of Health requires all units to develop plans, stockpile chemicals, equipment, personnel, and be ready to coordinate responses in the event of food poisoning or foodborne illnesses. In the event of an incident, prompt action must be taken and immediate reporting must be made to local leaders and the Department of Health as per regulations.
