Ms. Nguyen Thi Nam reported on the teaching situation at the school on October 21st, stating that nearly 99% of students had returned to school. Of the 1,518 students in the school, more than 1,400 were registered for the school's lunch program.
According to Ms. Nam, to meet the needs of parents who cannot arrange time to drop off and pick up their children at lunchtime, the school has organized its own cooking service for the boarding program starting today (October 21st) until a new bidding unit is selected.
"Food will be sourced from a food supplier that has been vetted by the People's Committee of Binh Minh commune and meets food safety and hygiene standards," according to the school's announcement.

The process of the school organizing self-cooking for students will be supervised by parents, the school's supervisory team, health officials , and representatives from the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Binh Minh commune.
According to Cu Khe Primary School, after terminating the contract with the catering company, Nhat Anh Trading and Service Co., Ltd., the kitchen facilities have been renovated and kitchen equipment has been replaced with new, hygienic, and safe food products.
Reportedly, in the notice sent to parents regarding the school's decision to organize its own lunch program, the school stated the reason as: "to ensure that students' lunch services are not interrupted and that parents can focus on their work" while awaiting the completion of legal procedures for a new meal provider.
As reported by Tien Phong newspaper , on October 15th, parents and the supervisory team of Cu Khe Primary School discovered that Nhat Anh Trading and Service Company Limited was supplying foul-smelling meat and eggs to the school's kitchen.
On October 16th, a joint inter-agency inspection team on food safety and hygiene from the commune, with the participation of the Hanoi Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department, visited the school. Following this, the school held a meeting with parents and unanimously agreed to terminate the contract with Nhat Anh Trading and Service Co., Ltd.
While waiting for a new food supplier, the school has offered two options for school lunches: Parents can pick up their children for lunch at home, or children can bring their own lunch to school.
The proposal met with strong opposition from many parents who argued that the school should be responsible for the organization and quality of school lunch programs.
Yesterday (October 20th), parents of nearly 200 students kept their children from going to school, partly to protest the school's suggestion that students bring their own lunch or eat at home after school.
