At least 22 people were hit by gunfire, one of them fatally, according to Fire Chief Ross Grundyson, who spoke at a press conference late Wednesday. He added that 15 of those injured were in life-threatening condition.
Graves said she was aware of reports that some fans may have been involved in chasing and apprehending at least one of the suspects, and investigators were reviewing video of the incident.
Members of the Kansas City Chiefs said in a statement that all players, coaches, and staff who attended the championship celebration were safe.
According to police, a series of gunshots rang out outside a garage near the train station, at the end of a victory parade. Videos posted on social media showed chaos outside the station with dozens of uniformed police officers drawing their weapons and running into the building.
The Chiefs' Super Bowl victory celebration featured star Travis Kelce, a member of the club and boyfriend of pop superstar Taylor Swift. Kansas City Governor Laura Kelly was also present at the parade when the shooting occurred.
