Establishing a blood bank and dialysis system in the Con Dao Special Economic Zone.

On August 26, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced that it had sent 7 leading specialists in obstetrics, general surgery, pediatrics, anesthesia, orthopedics, internal medicine, and nephrology to participate in the first rotation to work in Con Dao special zone on September 3.

A delegation of Ho Chi Minh City leaders and leaders from leading general and specialized hospitals conducted a field survey in the Con Dao Special Economic Zone on July 16th.

These are highly skilled and experienced doctors from institutions such as Binh Dan Hospital, Nhan Dan Gia Dinh Hospital, Hung Vuong Hospital, Children's Hospital 1, Orthopedic and Trauma Hospital, and Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital.

According to Associate Professor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health , with the principle of "leaving no one behind, even in the most remote places," the program of rotating specialist doctors to work in Con Dao, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, is not only an action with professional significance but also a strong message about the spirit of service of the city's health sector after the merger.

"Ho Chi Minh City's healthcare system is not only expanding geographically but also spreading its sense of responsibility to the most remote areas, such as Con Dao," said Associate Professor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong.

Through this initiative, both residents of Con Dao and tourists will have access to professional and high-quality medical services. This is a practical action demonstrating a comprehensive and equitable approach to healthcare development.

Besides the long-term and continuous rotation of specialist doctors, the health sector also implements short-term medical examination and treatment programs by specialized hospitals in the city. The first program , also taking place in September 2025, will provide dental care for students, handled by the Central Dental and Maxillofacial Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, a mobile blood bank has been established at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center, deployed by Hung Vuong Hospital, to ensure the provision of blood for emergency care, obstetric interventions, and surgery.

In addition, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital is responsible for setting up the hemodialysis system, and Binh Dan Hospital is responsible for establishing standardized operating procedures for the operating room…

All procedures will be carried out collaboratively by specialist doctors under the direction and support of hospital leaders.

Another important activity commissioned by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health for the rotating doctors is to provide updated professional training and technology transfer to medical staff at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center. This includes strengthening connections and remote consultations with experts from higher-level hospitals when complex cases arise.

“The Department of Health highly appreciates and acknowledges the enthusiastic response of the leaders of general and specialized hospitals, as well as the proactive spirit and readiness of the doctors participating in the first rotation to work in Con Dao. The list of registered rotation personnel is now full and will continue until the end of 2026,” said Associate Professor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong.
