This information was presented at the annual conference of CitySightseeing Worldwide, held in Hanoi on November 27th. This was the first time the company's annual conference had been held in Vietnam.
The conference was attended by founders and executives from over 30 countries within the CitySightseeing Group, as well as speakers who are leading experts in the tourism industry from around the world.
Representatives from the Hanoi People's Committee, its departments, and CitySightseeing Group attended the conference.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism , said that in 2023, the total number of tourists visiting Hanoi reached 24 million, an increase of 27% compared to 2022; of which 4 million were international tourists, an increase of 138% compared to 2022, accounting for one-third of the total number of international tourists to Vietnam. Domestic tourists reached 20 million, an increase of 16% compared to 2022. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 85.7 trillion VND, an increase of 43% compared to 2022.
Since 2018, Hanoi City has approved the deployment of double-decker buses to serve tourists visiting historical sites and scenic spots in the city. This is one of the unique and attractive tourism products that enhances the experience for locals as well as domestic and international tourists.
Mr. Nguyen Tat Hieu, General Director of Vietnam Sightseeing Joint Stock Company, said that in recent years, Vietnamese tourism has developed strongly and become a key economic sector contributing to the overall development of the country, especially Hanoi, the political, economic and tourism center - the City for Peace. However, besides the available tourism resources, Vietnamese tourism still lacks unique types and products that are in line with the general development trends of the world.
"Based on the idea of Mr. Nguyen Ba Tien, Chairman of the Global Group, we launched the double-decker bus service in Vietnam starting in 2018 in Hanoi. In 2020, recognizing that City Sightseeing Worldwide's business philosophy and operating model were very much in line with our company's vision and goals, we signed a franchise agreement, officially launching the City Sightseeing branded double-decker bus service, making it part of the City Sightseeing Worldwide family," said Mr. Hieu.
The founders and operators from over 30 cities within the CitySightseeing Group, along with speakers who are leading experts in the global tourism industry, will be present.
According to Mr. Hieu, after the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnamese tourism witnessed a miraculous recovery, and the City Sightseeing brand is a testament to the recovery and development of Vietnamese tourism. To date, the City Sightseeing Vietnam brand has been present in 5 major cities in Vietnam and will continue to expand to other cities.

Vietnamtourism-Hanoi Joint Stock Company is one of the pioneering companies operating the first double-decker sightseeing buses in Vietnam. In November 2018, Vietnamtourism launched an open-top double-decker bus route to visit historical sites and scenic spots in Hanoi. To date, after more than 5 years of operation, the company has expanded this service to Ha Long City (Quang Ninh province), Hue City (Thua Thien Hue province), Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Lat City (Lam Dong province). All tour routes operate successfully and have received support and high praise from local authorities.
