According to the team's coaching staff, due to the need to familiarize themselves with the competition route, the male cyclists decided to go to Thailand 2 weeks early to prepare professionally. The training time before the competition will be calculated to ensure suitability for the athletes.
The team has 5 athletes, including: Pham Le Xuan Loc, Nguyen Hoang Sang, Nguyen Huong, Nguyen Minh Thien, Quang Van Cuong, and 2 coaches Nguyen Huy Hung and Huynh Tam Hien.
Among the injured players, Pham Le Xuan Loc, Nguyen Huong and Nguyen Minh Thien are participating in the SEA Games for the first time.
Vietnam won the second gold medal at the Asian Cycling Championship.
The remaining two racers both have experience in this arena, of which, Quàng Văn Cường won a gold medal in the mass start event at the 31st SEA Games in 2022 in Vietnam.
The road cycling event will take place at Kamol Sports Park (Bangkok, Thailand) from December 14. Vietnamese male cyclists will compete in 3 events: Team time trial, individual time trial and mass start.
According to plan, the Vietnamese women's road cycling team will depart on December 6, and the Vietnamese mountain bike team will depart on December 7.
The entire 18-member Vietnamese cycling team is ready for the race at the congress in Thailand.
