At the 32nd SEA Games, the target of the Vietnamese sports delegation was to win 90-120 gold medals, ranking in the top 3 leading delegations. However, the Vietnamese athletes competed excellently and exceeded the target by winning 136 gold medals and ranking first in the whole delegation.

This is the third time in the history of the SEA Games that the Vietnamese sports delegation has ranked first overall. But this is the first time that Vietnam has led the medal tally without being the host country. In the previous two SEA Games, Vietnam led the overall team (2003 and 2021) as the host country.

Ranked 2nd in the 33rd SEA Games medal tally is the Thai sports delegation (108 gold, 96 silver and 108 bronze). The Indonesian sports delegation (86 gold medals) ranked 3rd.

Next in line are the host country's sports delegations Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos. At the bottom of the overall rankings are the two sports delegations Brunei and Timor Leste. Of these, Timor Leste left the 32nd SEA Games without winning any gold medals.

At the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, the Vietnamese sports delegation set a target of 90-110 gold medals, ranking in the top 3 of the entire delegation. The sports that promise to be the "gold mine" of Vietnam at the 33rd SEA Games are Athletics, swimming, martial arts...

SEA Games 33 will take place in Thailand from December 9 to 20.
