Data from this report shows that in the category of "Messaging platforms", Zalo leads with a penetration rate of 85%, followed by Facebook with 59% and Messenger with 52%. Zalo's usage rate saw growth compared to Q2/2024, reaching 82%. Meanwhile, Facebook and Messenger usage rates decreased slightly (Facebook in Q2/2024 reached 62% and Messenger reached 53%). The large gap in usage rates compared to Facebook and Messenger continues to strengthen Zalo's position as the most popular and favorite messaging application in Vietnam. In terms of preference rate, Zalo is also leading the platforms with a preference rate of 57% in Q2/2024, far surpassing Messenger and Facebook with a preference rate of 17% in Q2/2024 on both platforms at the same time. Since the beginning of 2024, the rate of users liking the Zalo platform has increased steadily every quarter. In addition, Zalo has maintained its position as the most favorite platform in all 3 user generation groups: Gen X, Gen Y and Gen Z with an outstanding rate. 75% of people surveyed in Gen X prefer to use Zalo for daily messaging (Casual messaging) while the rate of using Messenger and Facebook for messaging in the Gen X group is only 10% and 7% respectively. The Gen Y group also witnessed a gap in the rate of liking to use Zalo compared to other messaging platforms when 56% of respondents preferred to use Zalo. For the young people in Gen Z, although the gap has narrowed, the rate of people liking to use Zalo is still high (40%) compared to the rate of liking to use Messenger (28%) and Facebook (24%). This is the 16th consecutive quarter that Zalo has achieved the favorite platform ranking in all 3 user generation groups since 2020 - a milestone marking Zalo's transformation when it surpassed Facebook Messenger to become the No. 1 messaging application in Vietnam. Zalo's continuous holding of the top 1 messaging application position also shows its serious investment and sustainable development vision. As the leading messaging platform for many years, Zalo has continuously researched and launched new features to serve diverse needs. According to the Consolidated Financial Report for the third quarter of 2024 recently announced by VNG , the Zalo messaging platform currently has 77.6 million monthly active users (MAU) and nearly 1.97 billion messages sent every day.
