1,200 delegates attend the 7th International Conference on Vietnam Studies

TPO - The 7th International Conference on Vietnamese Studies is not only an academic and cultural event of international stature, but also an important foreign affairs activity of Vietnam in the new period in the context of science and technology becoming one of the three pillars of national foreign affairs.

On October 25, Hanoi National University in collaboration with the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, ministries, sectors, localities and international partners organized the 7th International Conference on Vietnamese Studies with the theme: "Vietnam: Sustainable Development in the New Era".

The conference attracted about 1,200 Vietnamese and international scientists from more than 30 countries and territories to attend in person and online. In particular, the conference had the participation of many prestigious professors and scholars from the world's leading universities and research institutes such as: University of California Berkeley, Toronto, Amsterdam, Kyoto, Waseda, Singapore, Seoul, Fudan, Chulalongkorn, and representatives of international organizations such as UNESCO, UNDP, JICA, KOICA, Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung...

Through the conference, international scientists, experts and scholars exchanged and shared knowledge about Vietnam in many fields, contributing to spreading the image of the country, people and knowledge of Vietnam to the world. This is a vivid expression of science and technology diplomacy associated with cultural diplomacy, promoting academic cooperation, research and knowledge transfer, while enhancing the position and influence of Vietnam in the global knowledge network.

Domestic and international delegates attended the 7th Vietnam Studies Conference.

Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Minh Son, Director of Hanoi National University, said that in the speeches and policy advisory reports sent, many Vietnamese and foreign scientists have suggested to the Party and State of Vietnam many strategic solutions and specific measures to complete the country's development strategy; promote strong breakthroughs and high efficiency of science, technology, innovation and development of high-quality human resources; Promote intellectual and cultural resources into a strong and sustainable endogenous driving force .

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long said that Vietnamese studies is an interdisciplinary social science and humanities field that comprehensively studies the country and people of Vietnam; its heroic history with a thousand-year tradition of building and defending the country; its glorious feats of arms against foreign invaders; its spirit of solidarity and ardent patriotism; its unique, rich, and diverse cultural identity; its hardworking, diligent, courageous, resilient, benevolent, hospitable and always aspiring Vietnamese people.

Many generations of Vietnamese studies experts have continuously researched and contributed, including very famous people in the world scientific community such as the late Professor Le Thanh Khoi, Professor Phan Huy Le, Russian Professor Deopik, Japanese Professor Sakurai Yumio, American Professor Alexander Woodside...

He believes that cultural and social development must be synchronous, harmonious, and on par with economic and political development, with the consistent viewpoint of taking people as the center, the subject, the goal, the driving force, and the most important resource of rapid and sustainable development; not sacrificing progress, social justice, social security, and the environment to pursue mere economic growth.

The Deputy Prime Minister believes that the results of this conference, together with the information, knowledge, wisdom, experience, and valuable research works of the community of experts, scientists, and researchers, will continue to affirm the position of Vietnamese Studies; providing more and more scientific and practical foundations to serve the cause of building, protecting, and sustainably developing the country in the new era.
