142 workers poisoned after lunch

At about 1:35 p.m. on June 27, 142 workers of Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company were hospitalized after having lunch at the communal cafeteria with symptoms of nausea, dizziness, hot flashes, itching, numbness in the limbs, chest pain, and difficulty breathing.

142 workers of Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company suffered food poisoning after lunch at the factory and were taken straight to Viet Tiep Hospital in Hai Phong for emergency treatment.

All of the above workers were transferred to Viet Tiep Hospital Hai Phong for emergency treatment.

By late afternoon, 140 workers were in stable condition and discharged from the hospital. Two workers are still being monitored by doctors and are expected to be discharged tomorrow (June 28).

According to information from the company, this afternoon, nearly 800 officers and employees working at the shipyard located in An Hong commune, An Duong district (Hai Phong city) had lunch at the company cafeteria. The menu included many dishes, including braised mackerel with pickled cabbage and fried chicken. However, about 30 minutes after eating, the workers who ate the braised mackerel with pickled cabbage suffered from food poisoning and were hospitalized.

The unit that signed the contract to supply food to Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company is Thanh Hung Service Company Limited (headquartered in Dang Cuong Commune, An Duong District, Hai Phong City). This company was granted a certificate of food safety eligibility by the Hai Phong City Food Safety and Hygiene Department on June 13.
