On the afternoon of September 4, regarding the case of many students of Thai Nguyen Industrial College having fever of unknown cause, including 1 death, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management ( Ministry of Health ) directed the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases and the National Children's Hospital to support Thai Nguyen Central General Hospital and Thai Nguyen Provincial Department of Health to urgently find the cause of the disease.
Simultaneously, hospitals implemented treatment and infection control measures within medical facilities and at Thai Nguyen Industrial College to minimize the number of cases and deaths. If necessary, the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases and the Central Children's Hospital sent working groups to directly work in Thai Nguyen province.
The Ministry of Health also requested Thai Nguyen Central General Hospital and Thai Nguyen Provincial Department of Health to coordinate in providing medical records, related documents and implemented measures together with the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases and the National Children's Hospital to deploy treatment plans for patients.
According to the Ministry of Health, from August 29th to September 2nd, 14 students from Thai Nguyen Industrial College exhibited symptoms such as fever, headache, abdominal pain, and vomiting, and sought treatment at Thai Nguyen Central General Hospital. Among them, one severe case requested to be discharged and subsequently died at home (as reported by SGGP newspaper). This student was VMC (born in 2008, residing in Sung Tra commune, Meo Vac district, Ha Giang province) – a student in the K57 Intermediate Electrical Engineering class, residing in room 209 K2, Thai Nguyen Industrial College dormitory.
