21 Vietnamese organizations establish Au Lac AI Alliance

The alliance brings together many large Vietnamese technology companies such as FPT, VNPT, MobiFone, CMC , Bkav and leading universities. The main goal is to develop artificial intelligence models using Vietnamese, suitable for local culture.

Sharing at the event on the morning of June 20, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, said that the name Au Lac represents Vietnam's sovereignty , consistent with the goal of affirming sovereignty in the digital space.

"We must implement Vietnam's AI model in Vietnamese language," Professor Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized.

Associate Professor Dr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the Alliance and Chairman of FPT, pointed out 3 challenges that Vietnam is facing in the AI era.

The first is the issue of national security. "A country cannot protect itself without mastering technology, especially AI," Mr. Binh affirmed.

The second is the goal of becoming an advanced country by 2045. Vietnam needs a strong AI platform to implement the "strategic quartet": Modern governance, deep integration, development through science and technology and intellectual export.

Third is the lack of investment resources. While major powers invest hundreds of billions of dollars each year in AI, Vietnam needs to find ways to optimize its limited resources.

The units in the alliance have made specific commitments. FPT will open the entire core technology platform for members to develop together and announce the plan to develop VietGPT - a virtual assistant exclusively for Vietnamese people. Zalo contributes experience in building AI models and the VMLU Vietnamese proficiency assessment set with more than 10,000 questions.

Misa is committed to providing a team of experts in financial and accounting data. Hanoi University of Science and Technology wishes to participate in the country's major problems.

The Au Lac AI Alliance operates on three principles: consensus, respect, and open community. The organization will focus on research and development, policy development, and AI training.

"The Au Lac AI Alliance today is one of the first rays of light of the dawn of a glorious country," Mr. Truong Gia Binh concluded.
