According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the total number of registered candidates for the 2024 High School Graduation Examination is 1,071,393. Of these, 1,014,020 registered online, accounting for 94.66% of the total; 57,373 registered in person, accounting for 5.34%. The total number of independent candidates is 46,978, accounting for 4.38%.
Total number of test sites: 2,323; total number of test rooms: 45,149. The test sites located in the locality where the candidates study help candidates avoid long distance travel, do not have to worry about accommodation, create a calmer and more confident mindset when taking the test, and at the same time do not cause pressure on traffic in big cities.
The attendance rate for all three subjects (Literature, Mathematics, and Foreign Language) and the Natural Sciences combined test was above 99%. However, for the Social Sciences combined test, the attendance rate for the three component subjects was only above 95%.
This year's exam was conducted rigorously, ensuring order and safety. According to reports from localities, the exam supervision at all testing centers proceeded according to plan. Statistics from local reports and inspection teams show that throughout the exam, 30 candidates violated the exam regulations and were suspended for using unauthorized materials and bringing mobile phones into the exam room; 0 exam officials violated the regulations. To date, no organized cheating or malpractice has been recorded nationwide.
Preliminary assessment indicates that the 2024 High School Graduation Examination took place under relatively favorable weather conditions nationwide. Preparations for organizing the exam were carried out proactively, urgently, thoroughly, and comprehensively. The invigilation at all examination centers ensured safety, seriousness, and adherence to the plan, meeting the requirements for a streamlined and practical examination. The exam was conducted seriously, honestly, objectively, safely, and in accordance with regulations, ensuring convenience and fairness for all candidates.
The exam preparation process was conducted seriously, safely, and securely from the central to local levels. The exam questions basically met the requirements for organizing the exam. According to initial assessments from candidates, teachers, and public opinion, the exam questions for all subjects/courses were within the high school curriculum, with appropriate differentiation to ensure accurate and objective results for the purpose of granting high school graduation certificates and providing data for higher education and vocational education institutions to use in admissions in accordance with the principle of autonomy.
The Steering Committees at all levels have strengthened inspection and supervision of the organization of examinations at examination centers, promptly detecting, reminding, and assisting in overcoming limitations and shortcomings in the examination process to enhance discipline in examination halls and maintain strict discipline in examination rooms. Some shortcomings in the performance of duties by examination staff have been promptly rectified. Violations of the regulations by candidates have been promptly detected and handled in accordance with the examination regulations, ensuring the integrity of the examination.
After the examination process is completed, the relevant departments will proceed with grading and prepare for the announcement of the results, tentatively scheduled for 8:00 AM on July 17, 2024. Subsequently, localities will conduct graduation assessments for the exam-taking students and use the graduation exam results for university and college admissions according to the enrollment plan.
