The 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the Reunification of the Country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) was solemnly and successfully celebrated in Ho Chi Minh City, once again affirming the great historical significance and magnitude of the Great Victory of Spring 1975 in the history of nation-building and national defense of the Vietnamese people.
As General Secretary To Lam stated: “Years will pass, but the victory of our people in the resistance war against the US to save the country will forever be recorded in the history of the nation as a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism, a victory of justice, a victory of Vietnamese courage, spirit and wisdom; of fervent patriotism, the aspiration for independence, freedom and national unity, with the truth 'Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one,' a milestone affirming that the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army have realized the most heartfelt wish and instruction of Uncle Ho, completing the cause of completely liberating the South, unifying the country, and bringing North and South together as one family.”
The Central Steering Committee for the commemoration of major national holidays and important historical events in the three years 2023-2025 and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee respectfully extend their deepest gratitude to the leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front; leaders of political parties, states, governments, and people of fraternal countries and international organizations; revolutionary veterans, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Labor Heroes, generals, officers, soldiers, veterans, militia, guerrillas, youth volunteers, civilian workers on the front lines, families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, people who have contributed to the nation, and generations of cadres and soldiers who have dedicated and sacrificed themselves for the cause of national liberation and reunification.
The Organizing Committee also extends its gratitude to the people and soldiers throughout the country and overseas Vietnamese; the central and provincial/city departments, ministries, agencies, and organizations; the generals, officers, and soldiers of the People's Army, People's Public Security, militia, and all sectors and groups who participated in the parades and marches; the parade contingents from fraternal countries: China, Laos, and Cambodia; experts, scientists, artists, designers, and program producers; businesses, sponsors, reporters, editors, and technicians from domestic and international press and publishing agencies.
Officers and soldiers of the armed forces, civil servants, employees of agencies, units, and socio-political organizations; union members, association members, volunteers, children and young people; and especially the people of Ho Chi Minh City participated in the commemorative activities and contributed very actively and effectively to the outstanding success of the activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, spreading meaningful messages to friends around the world and bringing deep emotion and pride to compatriots, cadres, and soldiers throughout the country.
During the preparation and execution of the ceremonial activities, inconveniences, oversights, and unintentional shortcomings are unavoidable. The Organizing Committee respectfully requests the understanding and forgiveness of all delegates, compatriots, comrades, guests from near and far, especially the people in the city center.
The Party Committee, government, and people of Ho Chi Minh City will certainly uphold the pride and sacred spirit of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, and together with the whole nation, confidently move into a new era of development.
