A report by the General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ) released on the morning of July 5 shows that domestic consumption and tourism demand, along with the increasing number of international visitors to Vietnam, are factors that have positively contributed to the growth of the trade and service sector since the beginning of the year.

Total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue at current prices in June are estimated at VND570.2 trillion, down slightly by 0.2% over the previous month and up by 8.3% over the same period in 2024.

Of which, revenue from food and foodstuffs increased by 9.7% over the same period last year; cultural and educational items increased by 8.1%; garments increased by 6%; household appliances, tools and equipment increased by 4.7%; accommodation and catering services increased by 14.1% and tourism and travel increased by 23.9%.

In the second quarter of 2025, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue at current prices is estimated at VND 1,713.8 trillion, up 0.6% over the previous quarter and up 9% over the same period last year.

In the first 6 months of 2025, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue at current prices are estimated at VND 3,416.8 trillion, up 9.3% over the same period last year (up 8.9% in the same period in 2024).

Specifically, retail sales of goods in the first 6 months of 2025 are estimated at VND 2,613.1 trillion, accounting for 76.5% of the total and increasing by 7.9% over the same period last year. Of which, the group of cultural and educational items increased by 11.5%; food and foodstuffs increased by 9.5%; garments increased by 6.1%; household appliances, tools and equipment increased by 5.5%.

The increase in retail sales of goods in the first 6 months of 2025 compared to the same period last year in some major provinces and cities is as follows: Quang Ninh increased by 10%; Hai Phong and Da Nang both increased by 8.2%; Ho Chi Minh City increased by 7.9%; Can Tho increased by 7.6%; Hanoi increased by 7.3%.
