In Vietnam, the AUN - VNUHCM Summer Program, hosted by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, took place over two weeks (from July 7th to 20th) with the theme "Climate Change: Impacts, Solutions, and Youth Engagement".
The summer camp at Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) was attended by 60 students from AUN member universities and 40 students from member universities, the Faculty of Medicine, and the VNU-HCM branch in Ben Tre province.
At the summer camp, students will learn about the far-reaching impacts of climate change on both the environment and society, and will be introduced to the theory and application of circular economy principles and green development models.
Through case studies, discussions, and group projects, students will collaboratively analyze and propose solutions to mitigate and adapt to climate change, exploring the role of youth, regional and global cooperation in effectively addressing climate challenges.
The Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) has also announced the list of 19 students selected to participate in three AUN summer camp programs in 2024 in Singapore, Indonesia, and Brunei.
These are full-time undergraduate students studying at member and affiliated units of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City who have good academic performance, good English skills, leadership potential, teamwork skills, and good communication skills.
Successful applicants will receive financial support from the summer camp organizers and member universities of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
Initiated by the National University of Singapore, the AUN Summer Program has been developed by the Southeast Asian University Network (AUN) into the first international student exchange program organized on a network-wide scale. The program is expected to be held annually starting in 2024.
In its first year, the program was hosted by 11 member universities and will be held successively in the summer of 2024 in seven countries: Brunei (June 1-14), Indonesia (July 10-29), Malaysia (August 4-17 and September 2-15), Philippines (June 2-15), Singapore (July 1-13), Thailand (July 1-12) and Vietnam (July 7-20).
The entire program is expected to involve approximately 2,000 students from 30 member universities of AUN.
