The two strongest players of the European team, Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev, played together in the doubles. Although they are top-class singles players, Alcaraz and Zverev failed to combine in the doubles when they faced Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton of the world team.

Set 1 was balanced, the two couples played tit for tat and created many attractive moments, Fritz and Shelton won after the tie-break with a score of 7-5. In set 2, the two American players were more precise at key moments and won 6-4, thereby winning 2-0 overall.
The 2024 Laver Cup singles matches took place excitingly on the evening of September 20. Dimitrov of the European team overcame Tabilo of the world team with difficulty after two sets with the scores of 7-6(4), 7-6(2).
Casper Ruud (Europe) was rated higher in the encounter with Francisco Cerundolo (World). However, Cerundolo was the better player, knowing how to take advantage of important break-points to win both sets with the same score of 6-4.
In the remaining singles match, Stefanos Tsitsipas had no trouble facing Thanasi Kokkinakis, the Greek player easily won 6-1, 6-4 against his opponent from Australia. At the end of the first day of competition at the Laver Cup, the European team and the World team tied 2-2.
The 2024 Laver Cup in Germany will feature three singles matches and one doubles match per day. Points will be awarded on each day: one point on the first day, two points on the second day and three points on the final day. The first team to reach 13 points wins.
