On the afternoon of October 27th, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on the occasion of attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh extended his greetings to the Australian leaders and highly appreciated the achievements of the Labor government in governance, economic stability, social welfare, and national development in recent times.
The two Prime Ministers were pleased to review the positive and effective developments in bilateral relations; they agreed to promote high-level and other visits through all channels and strengthen coordination to make more positive and substantive contributions to peace, stability, and cooperation in the region.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that there is still great potential for cooperation between the two sides, and suggested that both sides continue to effectively implement the Action Program for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and periodically organize dialogue and consultation mechanisms, contributing to continuously increasing understanding and strengthening political trust.

The Prime Minister proposed actively exchanging measures to further increase bilateral trade turnover, aiming to reach the target of 20 billion USD soon, especially by opening up and facilitating the export of goods from both sides to each other's markets.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated Australia's Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, emphasizing that Australian investment in Vietnam has seen remarkable growth, especially since Australia established its Investment Promotion Office in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Prime Minister suggested that both sides enhance and further expand cooperation in defense and security, especially in the fields of cybersecurity, digital transformation, and equipment support to improve Vietnam's capabilities.
The Prime Minister shared Vietnam's vision and strategy for the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation; and expressed his desire for breakthroughs in cooperation between the two sides in this field, especially in human resource training and the development of biomedical technology.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese affirmed that Australia always prioritizes its relationship with Vietnam, considering Vietnam a leading partner in Southeast Asia; he emphasized that upgrading the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership opens a new chapter in bilateral relations; and committed that Australia will always prioritize ODA support for Vietnam, especially in areas where Vietnam has needs such as climate change adaptation, energy transition, digital transformation, and circular economy.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Australia to continue making positive contributions to promoting dialogue, cooperation, and confidence-building through ASEAN-led mechanisms, based on respect for ASEAN's central role and consultation with ASEAN, contributing to ensuring peace, stability, and development in the region and the world, while continuing to support ASEAN's efforts to promote narrowing the development gap and support sub-regional cooperation, including the Mekong sub-region.
