Northern Vietnam and North Central Vietnam are about to enter a period of intense cold and frost.

From December 13th, the weather in Northern Vietnam and North Central Vietnam will turn cold. In the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam, from December 13th to 14th, there will be intense cold, with some high mountainous areas experiencing severe cold; the plains of Northern Vietnam will also experience intense cold in some areas. The lowest temperatures in the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam will range from 7-10 degrees Celsius, and in high mountainous areas below 5 degrees Celsius.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather in Northern Vietnam currently remains sunny during the day, with scattered rain at night; some areas may experience fog in the early morning. The highest temperature will be 24-27 degrees Celsius. Currently, a strong cold front is moving southward in the North.

Forecasts indicate that around December 13th, a cold front will affect the Northeast region, then spread to the North Central, Northwest, and Central regions. Northeast winds will be strong, reaching level 3, level 4-5 in coastal areas, and level 6 in some places, with gusts up to level 7.

From December 13th, the weather in Northern Vietnam and North Central Vietnam will turn cold; mountainous and hilly areas in Northern Vietnam will experience severe cold from December 13th to 14th, with some high mountainous areas experiencing extreme cold; some areas in the Northern Delta will also experience severe cold.

The lowest temperatures in the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam range from 7-10 degrees Celsius, below 5 degrees Celsius in high mountainous areas, 11-14 degrees Celsius in the Northern Delta, and 12-15 degrees Celsius in North Central Vietnam.

In the Hanoi area, moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected on the night of December 12th and during the day of December 13th; there is a risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. From December 13th onwards, the weather will turn cold, with some areas experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature will be 12-14 degrees Celsius.

From the night of December 12th to the night of December 13th, Northern Vietnam and North Central Vietnam will experience moderate to heavy rain, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain; accompanied by the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

From the night of December 13th to the night of December 14th, there will be rain, moderate rain, and locally heavy rain from Quang Tri to Da Nang and from the east of Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa.

At sea, from the afternoon of December 13th, the Gulf of Tonkin will experience northeasterly winds of force 6-7, gusting to force 8-9; rough seas; waves 2-4m. The northern South China Sea (including the Paracel Islands) will have winds of force 7, sometimes force 8, gusting to force 9; waves 4-6m.

From the evening and night of December 13th, the sea area from southern Quang Tri to Ca Mau , the central part of the East Sea, and the southwestern part of the East Sea (including the western part of Truong Sa) will experience winds of force 6, sometimes force 7, gusting to force 8-9; rough seas; waves 3-5m.

Experts warn that severe cold weather affects livestock and poultry farming, and slows down or damages the growth of crops.

Heavy rains pose a risk of flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes; intense rainfall can easily cause flooding in urban and industrial areas. Strong winds and high waves pose a danger to ships and maritime activities.
