Bac Ninh: Timely handling of many dike overflow incidents

BAC NINH - By 1:00 p.m. on October 9, Bac Ninh province had promptly directed and handled the dike overflow incidents caused by storm No. 11 in some areas, specifically: The dike break area in Tien Luc commune; flooding in Yen The and Bo Ha communes; dike overflow in Viet Yen, Tan Yen and some other areas. The situation in these areas is now under control.

Nearly 200 officers and soldiers of the Bac Ninh Provincial Military Command and Division 3 (Military Region 1) fixed the extrusion and bubbling circuits at Bau Pumping Station, Cam Bao village, Xuan Cam commune.

Currently, there are still complicated areas that need to be handled. In Hop Thinh commune, the Cau River dike is about 20 km long, the spillway is about 6 km, the embankment has been built to prevent the spillway for 3 km, 2 landslide points (25 m and 75 m) have been covered with tarpaulins; in Xuan Cam commune: The Cau River dike is about 19 km long, 10 spillway points, 6 embankments have been built to prevent the spillway, the other points are being handled. Tam Giang commune: The water level is high, there is a risk of the dike overflowing, the forces have finished building the embankment to prevent the spillway, and are currently handling the leakage at Vong Nguyet culvert.

In Da Mai ward, the water level is rising, there is a risk of the dike overflowing, 496 households (1,967 people) need to be evacuated, Regiment 831 (Provincial Military Command) is coordinating with local forces to support the evacuation of people and property to a safe location.

The total number of forces participating in handling the incident included 27,262 people from the following units: Provincial Military Command, coordinated units, militia and self-defense forces, and shock troops.
