Defense Command of Region 2 - Phu Loi helps people cope with floods

On the morning of October 23, in Cau Quan and Kien An neighborhoods (Long Nguyen Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), due to the impact of high tides combined with heavy rain, many roads and residential areas were partially flooded. In particular, the DT749 section through Cau Quan neighborhood was flooded 1 - 1.2 meters deep, about 200 meters long, affecting traffic and people's lives.

Upon receiving the news, the Defense Command of Area 2 - Phu Loi ( Ho Chi Minh City Command) mobilized 45 officers and soldiers to coordinate with the police force and nearly 100 militia soldiers of Long Nguyen ward to support the people.

The forces organized the movement of people, vehicles, and property to safe places, supported people through deep flooded sections, and helped relocate and raise furniture in flooded households.

Directly commanding the forces at the scene, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tan Tai, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Defense Command of Region 2 - Phu Loi said: "Heavy rain and rapid water rise in the early morning left many households unprepared. We determined that the task of helping people overcome the consequences of flooding was an important one. Therefore, officers and soldiers all upheld their sense of responsibility and promptly helped people stabilize their lives soon."

Touched by the timely support of the forces, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nga, 75 years old, living in Cau Quan neighborhood, emotionally said: "Thanks to the help of the army and militia, my family was able to move our belongings and motorbikes without any damage. In times of trouble, we can see how precious the affection of the soldiers is."
