Viet Nam's University Rankings (VNUR) - Vietnam's University Rankings has just announced the top 100 domestic universities in 2024.

Accordingly, the top 10 university educational institutions, in order from position 1 to position 10, include: Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Ton Duc Thang University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Duy Tan University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics , Hanoi University of Education, University of Commerce, Can Tho University, and Da Nang University.

Compared to the top 10 in 2023, there are 9 highereducation institutions continuing to be in the top 10 in 2024. Notably, the University of Commerce entered the top 10 for the first time with an increase of 27 ranks and ranked 8th.

The top 6 institutions in the top 10 maintained their rankings without any changes. The remaining 4 institutions saw changes, specifically, while Hanoi National University of Education rose in rank, Can Tho University and Da Nang University fell in rank, and one institution left the top 10.

The Vietnam University Rankings 2024 (VNUR-2024) reviews all 237 Vietnamese higher education institutions through processing big data, including: public reports; enrollment projects; ranking data of global rankings such as QS, THE, ARWU; accreditation of the Ministry of Education and Training; rankings of QS Stars and UPM; data of Web of Science (WOS) and SCOPUS in the 5-year period (2019-2023); data on science and technology activities and inventions of the Ministry of Science and Technology; data on prestigious scientific journals of the State Council of Professors; copyrighted electronic document database; and many selectively referenced information from related reputable sources.

A total of 193 schools had sufficient data to conduct the ranking. The ranking was conducted through a set of standards and criteria including 6 standards, 18 selected criteria, comprehensively reflecting the basic missions of higher education institutions such as training, scientific research and community service.

The Top 100 of VNUR-2024 has changes in rankings compared to VNUR-2023. Specifically:

Maintain the same ranking: in the top 100 of VNUR-2024, only 7 higher education institutions maintained their ranking position compared to 2023, including 6 institutions in the top of VNUR-2023 and VNUR-2024.

Ranking increase : 36 universities in the top 100 of VNUR-2023 increased their ranking in the top 100 of VNUR-2024. The University of Science and Technology of Hanoi increased the most with an increase of 52 places.

Downgrade : 41 universities in the top 100 of VNUR-2023 were downgraded from the top 100 of VNUR-2024.

Leaving the top : 16 universities in the top 100 of VNUR-2023 are not in the top 100 of VNUR-2024, their rankings in VNUR-2023 are from 65 to 100.

First time joining the top 100 in VNUR-2024 : 16 higher education institutions not in the top 100 of VNUR-2023 joined the top 100 of VNUR-2024, the rankings of these schools in VNUR-2024 are from 45 to 100, in this group, Nha Trang University has the biggest increase of 63 places and Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 has the highest ranking of 45.

High-ranking universities are older, with the average age of institutions in the top group being 49 years.

The number of institutions in the VNUR-2024 top 100 by economic region has not changed much compared to 2023. Higher education institutions with high rankings are most concentrated in the Red River Delta and the Southeast. The Red River Delta and the Mekong Delta maintain the same number of institutions in the top 100 compared to VNUR-2023. The Southeast has decreased by 4 institutions.

From the perspective of training groups, there is not much change compared to 2023, multidisciplinary university education institutions and public universities have an overwhelming proportion in the rankings.

This is the second year VNUR has published the rankings of Vietnamese universities.
