Commenting on this match, CNN Indonesia emphasized: “Vietnam U22 continuously applied pressure but had difficulty against the 5-man defense of Laos U22. Coach Kim Sang Sik’s team often used long passes behind the defense in the hope of penetrating the defense of Laos U22.

Despite being under great pressure from U22 Vietnam, U22 Laos still created a few notable opportunities. They even scored an equalizer in the 33rd minute to make it 1-1.

The turning point in this match was when the referee recognized the controversial goal of U22 Vietnam in the 60th minute. Dinh Bac fired a left-footed shot into the net of U22 Laos. Initially, the linesman did not recognize the goal because he thought Quoc Viet was in an offside position and participated in the situation. This player jumped to avoid the ball and blocked the vision of goalkeeper Lokphathip.

However, after discussing with the linesman, referee Rustam Lutfullin recognized Dinh Bac's goal. Coach Ha Hyeok Jun of Laos U22 received a yellow card for overreacting.

Suara (Indonesia) also focused on Dinh Bac's controversial goal: "The goal that increased the score to 2-1 for U22 Vietnam was a controversial situation. In the 60th minute, Dinh Bac put the ball into the net of U22 Laos but the linesman ruled Quoc Viet offside.

The U22 Vietnam players strongly protested this decision. Afterwards, the main referee Rustam Lutfullin recognized the goal of U22 Vietnam after talking with the linesman. This time, it was the turn of U22 Laos to express their dissatisfaction.

Another Indonesian newspaper, Kompas, praised Dinh Bac. They said that this striker showed his star quality when he contributed two goals to help U22 Vietnam beat U22 Laos.

Makan Bola (Malaysia) newspaper has an article: "U22 Vietnam surprised everyone when they struggled to defeat U22 Laos". The author commented: "U22 Vietnam was expected to win resoundingly against U22 Laos in the opening match of SEA Games 33 but the reality was completely different.

In the first half, U22 Vietnam created great pressure and took the lead thanks to Dinh Bac in the 29th minute. However, in a moment of lack of concentration, U22 Vietnam was unexpectedly equalized by U22 Laos.

In the second half, Dinh Bac scored against U22 Laos in the 60th minute. Initially, the U22 Vietnam players were upset when the linesman determined that Quoc Viet was offside. However, referee Rustam Lutfullin later decided to allow the goal.

U22 Vietnam really had a difficult match against U22 Laos. This match will be a reminder for U22 Malaysia when they face U22 Laos on December 6th.

The Bharian newspaper wrote: “The controversial goal helped U22 Vietnam defeat Laos.” The Malaysian newspaper emphasized: “The protests of the U22 Vietnam players forced the main referee to discuss with the linesman. Finally, the “man in black” decided to recognize Dinh Bac’s goal in the 60th minute.

This helped U22 Vietnam win their first victory at SEA Games 33. U22 Malaysia will face U22 Laos on December 6, before meeting U22 Vietnam on December 11.
