Thai newspaper comments on ticket prices for the first leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Thai media commented that the ticket prices for the first leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho province ) at 8 PM on January 2nd were too high, almost double the price of tickets for the semi-final matches.

The Thai newspaper Siam Sport wrote: "Ticket prices for the final match between the Vietnamese and Thai national teams at Viet Tri Stadium have reached millions of dong."

"The announced ticket prices are 500,000 VND/ticket, 700,000 VND/ticket, and 1 million VND/ticket. Each person is only allowed to buy two tickets and must present their Citizen Identity Card for verification," Siam Sport added.

According to Thailand's leading sports newspaper, these prices are not cheap, especially when compared to the ticket prices for the second leg of the semi-final match between Vietnam and Singapore on December 29, 2024.

According to Siam Sport : "Ticket prices for the semi-final match at Viet Tri Stadium are 300,000 VND/ticket, 500,000 VND/ticket, and 600,000 VND/ticket respectively. Tickets for the final match are almost double the price of tickets for the semi-final."

"It is estimated that Viet Tri Stadium has a capacity of 20,000 seats. However, the match organizers only sold about 17,000 tickets. The remaining tickets were reserved for sponsors and partners of the match organizers," reads the headline from Thailand's leading sports newspaper.

Meanwhile, tickets for matches at the Rajamangala Stadium in Thailand are priced at $14.69 (approximately 373,000 VND), with the lowest price being $5.87 (approximately 149,000 VND).

Although tickets for the 2024 AFF Cup in Thailand are cheaper than those at Viet Tri Stadium, Viet Tri Stadium has been consistently sold out since the beginning of the tournament. Conversely, Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok has never been full of spectators since the start of the 2024 AFF Cup.

The match that attracted the largest audience at Rajamangala Stadium since the start of the tournament was the second leg of the semi-final against the Philippines on the evening of December 30, 2024. Nearly 32,000 spectators attended the match, while Rajamangala Stadium has a capacity of over 51,500.

The first leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final at Viet Tri Stadium will begin at 8 PM on January 2nd, 2025. Following that, on January 5th, Vietnam and Thailand will meet again in the second leg at Rajamangala Stadium.
