This website describes this vibrant red dish as being made from animal blood, which, when solidified, has a jelly-like texture and is served with peanuts and mint.
Despite the controversy surrounding the risk of bacterial contamination from the meat, the dish has not been officially banned.

Coming in second is mung bean sweet soup with 3/5 points - a traditional dessert made primarily from mung beans, often with coconut milk, and popular in the summer.
However, according to the illustration accompanying the description on TasteAtlas, this is areca flower sweet soup, not mung bean sweet soup.
Bánh ít ranks third on the list with a score of 3/5. This page describes it as a traditional dish made from glutinous rice flour, with fillings varying depending on the recipe, but pork, mung beans, and shrimp are the most common ingredients.

There are especially many incredibly delicious dishes or those deeply rooted in regional identity that Vietnamese people absolutely love, yet some people still criticize them.

After its release, the list of 39 most criticized Vietnamese dishes immediately sparked lively discussions among many Vietnamese people on forums and social media sites.
The majority of social media users disagree with this list.
On the "Phượt luôn" fanpage, one user commented, "It's hard to understand how I could eat all 39 of these dishes, except for the top one; the rest are all super delicious and high-quality."
"Criticizing boiled chicken is unacceptable," "you don't know how to eat it yet you're judging," "all delicious dishes," "criticizing national treasures," "poor my little chicken salad, it's incredibly delicious," "it should be in the top 39 best dishes in Vietnam"... these are some of the other opinions.

On another forum, a post titled "39 of the most criticized Vietnamese dishes, names that will shock you" sparked much debate.
Most people expressed their displeasure, saying things like, "It's all local specialties," "Why are you criticizing all the delicious dishes?", "That's utter nonsense"...
However, some people argue that this is just an assessment from those who don't truly understand Vietnamese culture, and should only be considered as a reference; there's no need to argue or make a fuss about it.
"Let people criticize it, as long as I like what I'm eating," one person wrote.

This website writes that TasteAtlas rankings should not be considered the final global conclusion about cuisine.
Their goal is "to promote amazing local dishes, inspire pride in traditional cuisine, and spark curiosity about dishes you've never tried before."
