On March 23, the Thu Duc City Police (Ho Chi Minh City) temporarily detained Huynh Ngoc Tan (born in 1991, residing in Vinh Long province) for investigation into the crime of "theft of property".

Previously, on March 21st, a woman born in 1993 (residing in Thu Duc City) reported to the Thao Dien Ward Police Station (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) about the theft of numerous valuables from her apartment in the Thao Dien Masteri condominium. The woman stated that the stolen items included US dollars, a watch, and liquor, valued at over 2 billion VND.
Upon receiving the report, the Thao Dien Ward Police and the Thu Duc City Police arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation, take statements from witnesses, and carry out the investigation.
The woman stated that she lived in the apartment with her boyfriend, Tan. After the theft, Tan's whereabouts were unknown. Using their investigative skills, the police identified Tan as the suspect in the theft and launched a search.
On the afternoon of March 21, police detectives arrested Tan while he was in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. At the time of the arrest, the police seized many items that the woman had reported stolen.
According to sources informed by SGGP newspaper, the woman who reported the theft is the daughter of a former Provincial Party Secretary from a central province, who retired just a few months ago.
