Caught red-handed transporting 1,490 packs of smuggled cigarettes

On August 21, Vinh Thong Ward Police (An Giang Province) said that the unit had just discovered and caught a subject transporting a large quantity of smuggled cigarettes.

Earlier, during a patrol on National Highway 80, in section 8, Tan Hung neighborhood, Vinh Thong ward, police officers spotted a young man driving a motorbike at high speed and exhibiting suspicious behavior, so they requested him to stop for inspection. The inspection revealed 1,490 packs of smuggled cigarettes on the motorbike.

At the commune police station, the suspect identified himself as Huynh Minh Nhat (born in 2000, residing in Group 3, My Lo neighborhood, Ha Tien ward), and confessed that he was hired by an unidentified person to transport the cigarettes from Ha Tien to Rach Gia. He was apprehended by the police while en route.

The Vinh Thong Ward Police are continuing to investigate and clarify the violations and will handle them according to the law.
