On the evening of December 9, a representative of Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) said that the male patient in the first lung transplant in the South was healthy and discharged from the hospital.
That is the case of Mr. A. (39 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City), who had a successful lung transplant on the night of November 7th and lasted until the early morning of November 8th at Cho Ray Hospital.
Attending the ceremony to congratulate the patient on his discharge, Dr. Pham Thanh Viet, Deputy Director in charge of operations at Cho Ray Hospital, shared that the stable recovery of Mr. A.'s health is not only a great joy for the patient and his family, but also a particularly significant professional milestone for Cho Ray Hospital.

The patient's "recovery" has made a mark on the history of organ transplantation at Cho Ray Hospital, clearly demonstrating the courage and dedication of the medical team.
This success has instilled hope in many patients suffering from severe lung diseases, giving them a better chance to maintain and improve their quality of life.
Mr. N. (patient's father) shared that before that, Mr. A.'s health was very weak, he had difficulty breathing and a high heart rate after walking a few steps.
Since undergoing a lung transplant, his health has improved significantly, almost returning to normal. The patient is eating well and can walk for 15-20 minutes at a time without feeling short of breath.

On behalf of Mr. A., the father expressed deep gratitude to the organ donor, the patient's family, the Board of Directors of Cho Ray Hospital and the team of doctors and nurses who wholeheartedly advised, cared for and supported him throughout the treatment process.
As Dan Tri newspaper reported, on November 7th, a 49-year-old male patient (residing in Ho Chi Minh City) was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital in a critical condition with severe traumatic brain injury due to a domestic accident.
After the medical team's efforts to save the patient proved unsuccessful, the patient's family agreed to donate the patient's tissues and organs to other patients in need of organ transplants.
In recognition of the noble act of the donor and their family, and alongside legal procedures, consultations, and assessments of the donor's organ function, Cho Ray Hospital notified the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center to select a suitable recipient.

As the procedures were urgently initiated, the medical team of Cho Ray Hospital began receiving organs and transplanting them overnight.
In the early morning of November 8, the first transplants were successful, opening up new opportunities for life for young patients, including 1 heart transplant and 2 kidney transplants.
And the 39-year-old man was fortunate enough to become the first lung transplant recipient in the southern region. At the same time, two corneas were also transported to Hue Central Hospital and successfully transplanted to patients.
