Hospital builds free motels for the poor

From the beginning of August 2025, the "Understanding and Love" accommodation house officially came into operation, providing free services to relatives of patients being treated at Ninh Thuan General Hospital (Khanh Hoa province).

On the morning of August 3rd, Ninh Thuan General Hospital ( Khanh Hoa province) held an opening ceremony and put into operation the fully equipped "Understanding and Compassion" accommodation facility, supporting family members of patients with difficult circumstances who are undergoing long-term treatment at the hospital.

The "Understanding and Compassion" guesthouse is located next to the oncology department of Ninh Thuan General Hospital. The ^120m² building is furnished with 40 beds and equipped with basic amenities such as lighting, electric fans, and lockers for personal belongings.

The project, built by a volunteer group in collaboration with the hospital, cost nearly 500 million VND, thereby helping to alleviate the burden on families in difficult circumstances.

Mr. Râu Lem from Phước Hậu commune (Khánh Hòa province), whose family member is being treated in the nephrology and urology department, shared tearfully: "Thanks to this free resting place, I don't have to lie around in the hallway every day. Each night I save tens of thousands of dong to pay for my child's treatment. I'm overjoyed beyond words."

Dr. Le Huy Thach, director of Ninh Thuan General Hospital, said this is a compassionate model implemented by the hospital through social mobilization, contributing to caring for the mental health of patients' families, who are already exhausted and worried because of illness.

"The 'Understanding and Compassion' accommodation facility will help patients' families alleviate their worries and hardships, allowing them to focus on caring for patients undergoing long-term treatment, contributing to a humane and safe healthcare environment. In the future, the hospital will continue to expand its charitable activities to gradually build Ninh Thuan General Hospital into a friendly, humane, and professional hospital," said Dr. Thach.
