On the final day of the 2024 World Championship, Tran Thanh Luc created a big shock when he won 50-32 against world number 1 Dick Jaspers (Netherlands) in the semi-final. The Vietnamese player played extremely explosively, scoring an average of more than 3 points per turn against Jaspers. However, in the final match that took place in the afternoon of the same day, against the classy and excited Cho Myung-woo (Korea), the Vietnamese player had to accept defeat with a score of 23-50, after 20 turns. Thanh Luc finished as the runner-up of the tournament.

Tran Thanh Luc won the silver medal in the individual World Championship, at the most prestigious tournament in the competition system of the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB). This is the first time Thanh Luc has competed at the World Championship. Although he could not win the highest position in the tournament held in Binh Thuan , this is still considered a great success in the career of this player. This is also his best achievement after many years of competing in international 3-cushion carom billiards tournaments (World Cup, World Championship).
Before the 2024 World Championship, Tran Thanh Luc ranked 20th on the UMB rankings, with 128 points. With the runner-up position in this tournament, the Vietnamese player was awarded 54 points, bringing his total score to 182. He will certainly improve his position on the UMB rankings, and is likely to be in the top 15 in the world.
In addition, Tran Thanh Luc's achievements also once again affirmed the position of Vietnamese 3-cushion carom billiards in the international arena. In the last two World Championships, Vietnamese players have advanced far and been in the medal group. At the 2023 World Championship held in Ankara (Türkiye), two Vietnamese players won the highest positions, with Bao Phuong Vinh crowned champion (in his first participation in the tournament), and Tran Quyet Chien finishing second.
